PROFILE

Rodrigo discovered his passion for Photography in 1999 when studying Audiovisual communication on the Art school of Lisbon Antonio Arroio; by 2004 he had completed a two years Photography course in Ar.Co, one of the most regarded Art Colleges in the Portuguese capital. In search for artistic freedom and academic experience Rodrigo stepped away from his own roots, moving to Plymouth to complete a Photography and electronic imaging Foundation degree at PCAD, and recently to Bristol where Rodrigo achieved a BA Photography Degree at the University of the West of England.

As any Art student Rodrigo tried to experiment as much as possible with the photographic media, tending to feel more confident in the documentary Photography field. His work promotes the exploration of the very basis of human community in our modern era; often using real people in their own environment to create his series. Rodrigo spend his last year challenging and invading privacy by dragging it to the common world. Far from being minimalist his work is clearly marked by its own simplicity and subtle compositions, allowing an emphasis on the subject and theme he is recording but also stressing on the aesthetic and visual orientation of photographs.
